Dickens Faire costs $25 to attend but it is well worth the money as it starts at 10, doesn't end until 7, and there is something to do for every second of those 8 hours. (Including a delectable High Tea.)
PM at the Green Man Parlour I will be signing and possibly reading a
bit. There maybe even be a small Q&A if our gracious hostess allows,
and there are enough interested parties present. Green Man Parlour is
on the map near Pickwick Place.
Please do come, I would love love to see some of you there! In victorian, steampunk, or everyday garb, just come.
Also please bring your own books. There will not be any for sale (that'd not be proper in this particular environment.)
I'll be milling about enjoying the fair beforehand. I should be easy to
spot, I'll have my vintage black parasol and be dressed as the cover of
Changeless. Happy to have a chat, some tea, or a dance, but
please come to the event at 5 if you want anything signed and don't ask
in the street? Thank you.
will be trying to do this under the radar. I'd rather not make a fuss,
it's intended to be a bit of fun because I love Dickens Fair. And I
think you would too. It's like experiencing Alexia's world inside our
world, and it certainly influenced my books.
Aside from a few select friends (and now you, Gentle Reader) no one Important
will know I am there. It'd be great, therefore, if you didn't go asking
at the front gate "Where's Gail Carriger?" Or inquiring of the Powers
That Be, "Hay when's that Gail Carriger signing?" Because they won't
have any clue what you are talking about. And I'd really love it to,
ah-hem, stay that way.
Surprise bonus photo op! If you stay to the end of the Fair I'll be (most likely) trotting down to do a window at Dark Garden at 6:30pm. No, it won't be risque, but I will be doing the five Alexia poses from the covers of the five Parasol Protectorate books, with my parasol, in order, in a corset, for your delectation.
I mention they have the most wonderful Hot Buttered Rum at Dickens? Oh
yes they do. And the Rum Cake at the Tea Room is to die for!

Emily Gray, we wanted a younger voice for Sophronia. But I have been in

than three tablespoons in each. Anything more tasteless or injurious
