Had a lovely tome at the Nova Albion Steampunk convention, swanking about in corsets and steampunk garb, gabbing on panels, and drinking champagne and tea (separately, mind you). I've lost most of my voice (terribly careless of me), but Cherie Priest
and I managed to continue to rumor in the steampunk community that we are, in fact, the same person by switching name tags at every opportunity. Confusion and hilarity reigned. I was asked to sign two of her books, she was asked to sign one of mine. World domination ensues.

I love Jason Wu's Fall/Winter 2011 collection
. Black trousers with white print blouse and black ribbon tied about the neck. White dresses with black belts. Leather skirts. All black outfits with a winter white cape over the top. Royal blue with black, lace, and subtle prints. Lunchbox bags. Black dresses with white petticoats. Blood red shoes. Lovely.

The Finishing School announcement reads as follows:
NYT bestselling author Gail Carriger's debut YA historical fantasy series ESPIONAGE AND ETIQUETTE, set in her Soulless Alexia Tarabotti world but 40* years prior, an incorrigible aristocrat is sent off to finishing school to learn how to be lady only to discover that the school trains young ladies alright but for the wrong kind of "finishing," pitched as Ally Carter meets Steampunk, to Kate Sullivan at Little, Brown Children's, in a major deal, in a pre-empt, in a four-book deal, by Kristin Nelson at Nelson Literary Agency (NA).
